Just found a leak around the throttle body on my 2000 D2. The stealer quoted me a price over the phone of 320.00 for parts and labour.
Has anybody ever replaced a throttle body on a D2. How difficult of a job it is? I would really like to buy the 185.00 part and do it myself.
Thanks in advance

There is an update kit for the leaking throttle body preheater issue.
It's $15.
It comes with new screws, washers, gaskets (t-body to plenum and preheater plate to t-body) as well as the updated preheater plate.
You might want to change the two hoses too. There are updated versions of them as well.
They are $23 total.

dont use the gasket. especially if its that rubber POS. I've had the best success over the years by stoning down that lip on the new plate so the to surfaces mate up flush. I put a thin layer of right stuff on and install.

Is it even necessary to have the TB heater? I am thinking instead of repairing the leaking part to just by-pass. It rare get that cold out here in NorCal. Any opinions for or against?

I've by-passed it on a couple bosch motors. its pretty easy. I've lived with it like that in very cold weather of Montana, North Dakota and Wyoming. -30 degrees in the winter at points. I've never had the throttle body freeze up.

Deleted for past 5 years.
Ski trips a plenty and many cold days.
It s a bad design and the update will leak also.
I plugged the nipple at the intake and the expansion bottle so I don't have plastic brittle crap anywhere.

I bypassed it, and ran a good quality rubber hose from the intake to coolant jug. On the Kalahari I just bought it was blocked off at both ends with no issues, but I ran a line anyways. The OEM hard lines LR used did not hold up long under extreme conditions.

Good God! Just fix it right. If you really need to feel like a tightwad, crimp off your rear brake lines to keep those pesky brake pads from wearing out.

This.
I by-passed mine on my 2000 and had the throttle body freeze open. That's fun on a cold morning.
