D2 Tranny pan not sealing

Hey guys after changing the transmission pan gasket and trans filter it wont stop leaking ,I have to add about a quart per week , I didnt used any sealer just the rubber gasket (should I used sealer??) , I will also like to know the torque on those tranny bolts ,right now they are bolted has hard as I could , any tips advise ..thanks guys

No sealant. The bolts bottom out the clamps so t doesn't take much torque. And don't break one or strip it it sucks.

Bent pan or crap gasket is my bet. Put it on a table and see.

Clean it all off before installation. Get all the oil and crap off the mating surfaces and those around them. Use a toothbrush if you have to.

People have a tendency to install grimy parts, and that encourages leaking; especially if something became trapped between the two parts.

Thanks guys , yes I didnt do the job so I guess I got no choice but to dump all the fluid remove the pan and clean the gasket and all the way around it , how ever I will like to find out the actual torque for those pan bolts so I dont over squeeze the rubber

Thank you so I over tight it dont know how pounds but fells a hell of lot more than 6lbs . So I can use RTV on the rubber gasket and that will be fine ??

I've done it and seen it done many times.

There is no reason to use RTV, the gasket should seal fine for thousands of miles. Take it back to whoever did the job if you didn't do it.

I cant sat shit the guy is a friend did for free while I wasnt around , the pan does have a quarter size dent on the botton not even close to the edges to cause problems

Oh okay, I just assumed you had a shop do it. Just get a new pan from one of the guys on here that sells used parts and throw a new gasket on there, then you should be good to go for many more miles.

right stuff it. Even if a little warped it will prob seal with a good bead.
