D2 Transmission Shift Shudder

I am experiencing transmission shift shudder. It is intermittent and typically the 3-4 shift. Have changed the fluid/filter a few times thinking it might be old fluid or a clogged filter. The transmission pan had just a thin coating of black film. The filter bolts where so tight (for an 8nm torque) that I don't think the dealer changed it at the 30K service.

2004 D2 w/113K miles.

Any advice on cause? Is this the end of the transmission?

FYI having some luck with Lubegard 60902 automatic transmission fluid protectant (red bottle). Issue seems resolved after a few days of driving. Just one vaguely shuddering shift. I am thinking the valves were getting sticky.

have had the same lately, and will try that lubegaurd myself.
