Yesterday my wife calls me in a panic. She is at the doctors office with our 10 month little girl and her 2003 Disco. will not start. It will turn over but no start. She tried several times. It took me about 30 min. to get there, I tried it once and no start. One final try and it cranked. She drove it to work today and all seems to be fine.

It is still under warr. but I know they will not fix anything if they cannot duplicate the problem.

What do I do? Take it to them for it to start every time and they do nothing, or forget about it and it happen again?

Is this a common problem? It has 67k miles on it.

Thanks

dont know if there are spider/alarm probs on a d2 or not....but, next time it does it, turn the key to #2 position and see if the check engine light stays illuminated or not....it should stay on as long as key is in #2!

warannty huh....must be nice!

Thanks barefoot, I will check that.

Anyone else have an idea? It did it to her again and I told her to hold the pedal to the floor while cranking it. This worked. Could this be a fuel pressure regulator not holding pressure once its been shut off? Or a fuel pump not priming the system?

The check engine soon light flashes while trying to start it but goes off once its running. Think it threw a code for the dealership to read??

I have this problem figured out but still do not know what the problem part is yet.

It cranks and runs great when cold. Let it warm up (drive it to work) and let it sit for about 1 hour and it will not start. Let it cool down for several hours and it cranks right up.

I have tested it this way several times and its always at that 1 hour mark that it wont start. More or less and it starts normal.

I checked the muffler bearings and blinker fluid, they seem fine. Any ideas?

I don't quite have an answer for you but this has been covered before. Try a search for hot start or warm start issues. I'm betting the dealer may know what it is also and since you have the warranty and you can duplicate the problem give them a try.
Best of luck.

I will do those searches. I did one for wont start and will not start but had no luck.

I have talked to the dealership but they know less about rovers then I do about women. Im serious, I have had nothing but bad luck with the dealership idiots. They pointed to the cruise control button and told me it was the tow mode button!!
