D90 trailer wiring on a DII?

My buddy has a D90 and I'm borrowing his car hauler this weekend to go pick up a parts car for my BMW 325ix in Valdez, AK.

He said I could use his Rovers North trailer wiring kit if it will fit my DII.

Does anyone know if it will work?

You can match the wires up and splice them together, but it won't just plug in. D2 has the large square-ish plug behind the taillight where you plug in the trailer wiring harness, D90 doesn't have that.

That's kind of what I was expecting. I found an old thread on using a Wal-Mart kit ($20) so I think I'll just try that.
