Damn Clock!

Hey all I have a 99 disco I that I bought in November. The clock in it has never worked and the "stealer" wants $140 for a new one. Is there an alternative to the stock clock as I have heard it is not uncommon for them to break?

clock

You could get a clock from an older Rangie that uses dials instead of analog. It'll add a unique look. I picked up another analog from a guy who was parting out for $30, and it works just fine. Look around, you'll find one.

Any idea what years I should be looking for on the range? I would love to have an analog clock in there with some work it could look pretty cool.

Not sure which years specifically (Classic); check the tech section under Range Rovers to be sure. From what I recall, it fits right into place of the analog, so no major modification necessary. I'll see if I can find a pic.

No, not there, Koby. And that interior/clock looks like shit. Here's a pic of how it fits within a Disco. (Hope you don't mind, Ho). I think it looks pretty good.

Also, I mixed up my words. Analog is the clock with the dials, digital is the one that always breaks, duh.

Koby's pic is a DII, to the right of the climate controls, rather than to the left. It's a macro pic, with a flash, which would reveal every little scuff and dust clod, not a 'looks like shit'. I'm sure that if you jumped in that truck you'd say, 'hey, cool analog clock! good idea'.

then he could push your head thru the dash and ask..."how's the view from up close now?"

:D

I presumed he was being sarcastic (No! Really?!?!)

That pic's not even close to what a decent macro lens, say like an AF Micro Nikkor 60mm 1:2.8 D, could do. If only I could use it on my digital camera...

BTW, I only said it looks like shit because I use Q-tips and air dusters, among other things, to remove as much dirt as possible from the cabin after a trip. Allergies, the product of bad breeding...

That is my clock in my rig. I was agreeing with everyone. You guys sure read a lot of meaning into a few words.

If it didn't look cool, would I have installed in my own rig?

And Jacquelyne, you're splitting hairs. Most of us don't have the fancy macro lenses you speak about.

if I had an electron scanning microscope I could tell you the composition of each particle of dust on the vent flow control lever.

Nah, it ain't that fancy of a lens compared to lots of the newer stuff, but it gets the job done.

Yeah, I am splitting hairs, literally. Craig's working on my sliders today so in the meantime I'm perusing DWeb while peeking in on his progress every five minutes. Sorry :p

Gawd, if I had an electron scanning microscope I'd probably drive myself crazy, and I'd go blind from inspecting everything. That's what my husband does for a living.

Thanks for all the input, you didn't have to go to the trouble of posting the pics but it was sure appreciated.

If I were looking to put in an analog would a 88-89 range rover be about the right year from the range rover classic?

your clock broken or is the light just burned out? There is a little socket on the back of the analog clocks that a tiny little bulb fits into. check there first.

Hey cory how are things?
The clock was actually broken. You could see portions of the clock illuminated but never enough to tell what time. I also checked the bulb and it seemed to be in good working condition.
I have already swaped it with a 95 range rover analog clock. I really like that look. Thanks for the suggestion though.
