So i needed to register my D1 soon and needed a smag check. I was a little worried because I have hollowed out catalytic converters, and less than legal headers. But worst come to worst I was counting on bribery. Anyway the test results came back pretty good. No tracable CO or CO2 in the exhaust. On Hydro Carbons I scored 5 PPM @ idle and 9 PPM @ 2500RPM, the max allowable is 100PPM @ Idle and 180 PPM @ 2500 RPM.

My question is this, are those normal numbers or is my Disco running super clean? It has 101,000 miles if that matters at all.

My '98 came back super clean, too! The guy at the smog place was amazed. I hung my smog check results on the fridge like a child's report card :)

just drive them like you stold them and they fly right thru emmisions, if you pussy them around the o2 sensors get fouled and then they adjust the fuel trim up and fail...pretty simple disco's like to be beat:)

No CEL, nor lights on the dash at all for that matter (yes they work I check them regularly) That's Cali emissions, hence why I was so worried. Other than the mods listed I run Chanpion copper plugs, and stock LR wires. I do drive like a bat out of hell so that may be it.

Just had my '96 Disco tested today
HC(idle:722rpm)=16 / MAX is 100 / AVG is 26
HC(at:2500rpm)=7 / MAX is 180 /AVG is 11
CO(idle:722rpm)=.01 / MAX is 1.00 / AVG is 0.00
CO=(at:2500rpm)=0.00 / MAX is 1.10 / AVG is .10

One last thing, I don't drive it fast at all. I get 21mpg on the freeway and average 16 when I check it at fill-ups. I get 400 miles per tank (23.5 gal) if I drive it from topped off and more if I just fill it half at a time because I'm hauling less weight around in the tank.

No traceable CO2? The engine must've been stopped during testing... Bribery must've taken place :)

Aside from that, yes, a Disco can run that clean.

You guys are too much...it's a standard Disco tank, 23.5 gallons. It's better than a hybrid...the hybrid Highlander anyway, it's $35K and only gets 25mpg highway. Too much to pay for a tin can that gets 4 more MPG on the freeway. In town it kicks but at 27mpg, but $35K? That's the bottom of the line at $35K too!

Not busting your balls, I figured it was a standard tank but then again maybe not. They are fat turds but then again it works for our needs so that's the price to pay.
