Can someone please explain to me how limiting them to 3 occupants durig rush hour helps the environment? I'm sitting in a parking lot and have been for an hour as I watch 10 cars go by in the HOV lane per 30 seconds. How is thousands of idling cars helping. Makes me want to take a header off the Potomac Mills sign.

And yes, I shouldn't post while driving....I'm literally parked

The beltway is probably the worst place I've ever driven and I've unfortunately driven it a lot. It sucks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You are correct. Why don't they open it up and just let it all even out? I guess you are going to have to get yourself some blow up dolls or manikins to accompany you on your commute. Hang in there and put away the firearms.

Are you saying they need 3 people in a car to qualify for the HOV lane?
They changed it here a year after the first HOV lane opened. Two or more people in a regular car, 1 on a motorcycle. But here's the kicker: CNG vehicles were allowed, but hybrid cars were not. I beleive they finally changed that last year. So hundreds of SUVs sold during the CNG fiasco of 2000 got to use the HOV lane with their 5gal CNG tanks, but my friend's Honda Insight didn't qualify.

Come to seattle, they got the most retarded HOV system I have ever seen...

any of you locals know what I mean

friggin retarded

troopers sit there with binoculars to see if you have a passenger...not rader, not lidar,

not too many DWIs at morning rush hour, but you can bet I'll see 5 marked cars and a few unmarked ones in a 15 mile commute at 7am,

all sitting there looking thru binoculars, spilling coffee and powdered sugar. it was a $245 ticket.

fuck me in the ass, please why dont you.

yes, I have been pulled over.

By the same cop.

More than once.

On the same day.

For HOV violation

LOL

yeah yeah, ok so i have some issues, but any how,

"But sir, the lane was empty and I had to use the bathroom" or even " my rover seats seven isnt that high occupancy"

No, it didnt work.

Still in stop and go in stafford, va...45 miles later WTF

Which is why we live close in. Most of my colleagues have a 2 hour commute each way because they choose to live in the exurbs and deal with that BS every day.

Amen.. I'll take my crappy, old, over priced, small little house over sitting in my car for four hours a day in traffic. I don't see how people do it. I'd go nuts.

The HOV lanes are useless anyways. It's not like those people aren't sitting in traffic right next to you. It still takes them just as long to get home in rush hour. It's a parking lot no matter which lane you are in.
