a question for those that have de cat their rovers. did you replave the whole y pipe assy or just cut out the cat and weld in a pipe. does anyone supply a bolt in y pipe without cats?

Cut out CATs and weld pipe. Loud and stinky, but not too bad.

i've removed cats on two of my rigs in the past with no problems. however if you dont keep your engine clean of contaminants you might throw a code or not pass the sniff test. So an oil and fuel additive once in a while is definitely a good thing.

Mine has a thrush "flowmaster" style 2 chamber. It sounded good with the resonator, cat - delete, and muffler. Now it's annoying without the resonator!

Why would this be? Seems contrary to everything I've experienced, which is that the cars WITH cats generate more of that sulfur smell.

Sulfur smell is caused by raw fuel in the catalytic converters . The smell your probably gonna get from lack of cats is just an overpowering carbon monoxide type smell that overpowers you when you sit at idle . It's interesting that some of you guys are reporting no odors and no lights or codes . Not doubting you cause I never did this , but I know if I did it there would be big troubles . Seems like you get away with stuff like that till you know better , after you know all bets are off. Ive been tempted to locate some P.R.O.M. 's from Australia and delete both the cats and rear sensors on a D1

Fix the rich mixture before you delete cats, otherwise yes, you'll smell like petrol. I ran stock muffler, no-cats, and no-res. It sounded great and the clearance for wrenching and rocks was nice. Shops dont want to get in trouble, so they wont delete your cats. I cut mine out, welded in pipe, drove it to the shop. I complained the PO cut them out, did a shit job, and needed a pro to fix it.

I'm starting to hear a random rattle, seems to be coming from the cat converter, I need to know, LOL
A Walker cat is about $130 and 10 min with welder.

Last login from OP in August 2015. You're not going to get a response.

I got a hold of him, he said that he was able to run it with the test pipes, but had to install bung extenders to keep O2 codes from showing, no noticeable noise increase.
