rover leaving me standing on the roadside. Any suggestions?

Yeah. Stop throwing parts at it and take it to someone with test book, rovercom, or the like for a solid diagnosis. Or someone who is really good with a scope.

Intermittent faults are the hardest to track down. Sorry about your truck man.

What is the truck doing before it stops.
Stumbling? CEL on? How long do you drive before it cuts out?

Throwing parts

I've had all of this done at the dealership and my local guy. The motor surges, the rpm's drop too about 1000-1500 and it dies.

Basics: Spark plugs? Spark wires? Lets also look at maybe the FTS or possibly the ECTS. They should throw codes though i.e. trip the CEL. However, I drove around for about 15 miles one day without the gas cap on and my CEL never lit up. I just wanted to test it Are you losing coolant? Good fuel pressure? I am saying maybe take it back to the dealership and plug her up to the test book?? Good Luck. I have been there before and it sucks !!!!

I've had A tune up within 6 months and new head gaskets, coolant was A problem-leaking,fuel pressure now good. Thanks for the luck

Lets make it easy: Please answer these questions:
When it dies, do any lights come on?
Is it only while driving, or is it while stopped (idling)?
Hot or cold?
Does it restart, if so, how long does it take?
When you try to restart it, is the engine cranking at normal speed?
You have had a tune up, iac, fuel pump, head gaskets, and various other parts replaced...Did any of these change your symptoms at all?
Could your dying be a result of work performed?
Is there smoke when it does restart? Color (white, blue, or black)?

Any lights-Yes-battery-oil can.Dies while driving,engine hot.Restart-sometimes like It was flooded-cranks strong. Parts replaced-helped It run smoothly but the dieing contunes

Had a very similar problem on my Disco a few months ago. It would suddenly die while driving, but only at a low rpm, at about 1000-1500 rpm. It only would start after a lot of cranking which could take a few minutes and when the engine restarts, lots of black smoke comes out of the exhaust. Turned out to be a few leaking injectors. I had all eight injectors replaced and the engine ran as good as new.

I had what sounds like a similar problem on my "94 Disco about a year ago. The code said it was the throttle potentiometer....it was. I changed it and have not had had the problem since....as I knock on wood.
