This truck is driving me crazy right now. Have the wobbles at 50mph as posted on another thread a couple of weeks ago. Changed out the ball joints with RTE rods and ends and it was much better but they are now back. Rotated tires, now worse, going to try a different rotation. But the issue is always at the same speed. What woudl cause this one a DII if not the ball joints? I'll balance the tires if the rotation doesn't work but it seems unlikely that each tire would be out of balance only at 50mph. Still the stock steering stabilizer but that wouldn't be the issue as it would only mask the issue, it shouldn't have the wobbles with or without the stabilizer. Anythink I am overlooking???

Since it changed when you rotated your tires, I think you found the problem.

If it's not tires, then...... it sounds like you replaced the tie rod ends, which is not what most people thing of when they hear "ball joints" although they are a type of ball and socket joint. You should also check the ball joints, bearing/hub assemblies, and any bushings you can see.

Alignment done just after I changed the TRE's ( what I called ball joints). I just find it strange that the wobble remains essentially the same with the tires rotated, a bit worse with the current rotation. All else seems tight and no looseness in the steering or linkages.

Are the rims the original one? I once had a 99 Range Rover that a previous owner had put 20" rims on from I think a newer model disco or range rover. Anyway they were a larger size than the stock rims and caused severe death wobble at speeds near 50-55mph. This was caused by the owner never installing hubcentric rings on the inside of the rims to balance the slight size difference regarding the hub. It took me ahwile to figure this out and a lot of research.

Looks to be tires out of balance. I cross rotated two tires and the wobble has all but gone. I can feel a vibe from the rear so balancing is in the near future. I was really surprised that I have multiple tires out of balance that would cause the wobble at the same speed when rotated. Especially since I had them balanced a year ago. They'll be replaced in the fall when funds are better. They have a bit of life left but not much. Will move to something different since they are no longer avail (Michelin XPC). Maybe BFG AT, General AT or a Nitto, not sure yet.
