Next time you're there make sure and stop off at the new brew pub in Centre Hall.
I miss all the great streams and rivers in PA. VA doesn't have anything like them. Actually PA has more miles of streams than any other state in the country. Penns Creek is one of the best in the country too.
Try accessing Penns Creek from Poe Paddy too. Lots of great areas and a nice hiking trail as well.
You wouldn't happen to be talking about The Frosty Hook would you. They have great food. I also found a pub in State College called Otto's Brew Pub I believe. If you ever get the chance swing by and try their beer I prefer the "Otto's Double D IPA".
The great thing about Penn's Creek is it's a special regulation trout stream. I think the minimum length is 14", we've pulled trout 16" in length out.
Also if you want a great view drive up to Penn's View it overlooks that entire valley, you can look right down to the creek.
As far as my hunting goes saw a lot of doe and no buck. I did however come across something that just flat out pissed me off; I found what I believe was about 6 deer carcasses and 2/3 of a bear. The deer were half-assed butchered and the bear (or what was left) was halfway skinned (found some of the pelt 10' away) decapitated, and they took 3 of the paws with them. I couldn't belive it, what a waste
