I thought Iowa was archery only? nice looking buck though! I am surprised they let you shoot a deer that small in Iowa though, figured bucks don't show antlers until they are going to be 12 pts hahaha!!! kidding..

Are there any waterfowlers here? I am ready to get out and start chasing ducks after graduation...

Your talking to me pal, I own a cabin on a 1000 cattail marsh here in northern Iowa. Duck season just ended slow, I think the migration has moved farther west due to all the grain farming in the Dakotas, used to grow potatoes. Your comment about small bucks here in Iowa Not growing antlers until they are at least 12 pts, you are right , we were just thinning the small ones out..of the herd.

Looks like 140-150 with a bad pic & my bad eyes. That ain't nothing to sneeze at. My little 8 pt'er is on here someplace.
Waterfoul around here was ok. Tooo many water holes for them to hide.....

I got a doe with my new crossbow earlier in the year. I'm currently hunting a buck that has destroyed some tree on my farm. I let a small 5 pt walk at Thanksgiving.

Final weekend of deer camp coming up this weekend for South Texas! Texas has a two week extended doe-only, no spike hunting season. Got invited to a 2000 acre hunt and will be going for 3 days down to hunt deer, nilgai, and hog, and whatever other varmint becomes a victim of the Argentine Mauser :p
Will post up if I get something bagged.
Good season guys!
-Brian.

I'd love to do a hunt for nilgai someday. Cool animal, one of the TX "native exotics" now that they have been a wild breeding population for so long.
