Defender brake question

What year did 110's switch to rear disc brakes, and are they the same rear discs that NAS d90's used or are they larger setups that a 130 could have had?

And do 110s, and 130s use the same fronts? Looking at a few websites it looks like there is either some bad info out there, or 110's had an option of either 90 style or 130 style brakes.

Main Line
Rear discs/caliper etc. are basically the same as RRC/DI/D90.

Not sure of the switch over to disc on the rear but there were two types of axles used. One with a bolt on caliper mounting bracket and a later one where it was cast into the housing. The cast in ones are set up for alloys to my understanding. Later still they went to a rover rather than salisbury type rear end (around 02? I think).

There are some very rare "big" 130/110 armoured brakes out there, but that is only the front. Mike Slade has a set on his 145 custom truck. Mucho dinero to buy but last I checked still available from rover.

I am not sure of the exact switch over, but 110s went to RRC/NAS D90 style vented front rotors shortly after the NAS 110s came out.

I saw on some australian parts supplier that the rear rotor for some 110s and 130s they were listing was the same as a D1 front rotor, any truth to that?

not trying anything, just wanted to see what else is out there and saw what I thought was some contradicting info when ordering parts for my d90 caliper swap.

110's for the most part switched to vented front rotors in 1995 they also coverted to Rear Discs at that time..

The vented rotor caliper we call a D 90 is nothing more than a non vented rotor caliper with a spacer added to accomidate the wider rotor and astandard on all (most) 110's and 130's from 1995.

When 110's went rear discs they also went to the same hub design as what we see on a disco or D 90. The caliper brackets are bolt on and the calipers have slightly bigger pistons.

When the 110 went "TD5" the calper brackets became the same as on a Disco or D90 in the the end flange on the salisbury axle is the same with the caliper bracket forger to the flange.

for the most part 130's also have the same brakes as 110's

Piston Sizes on Disco and RRC calipers are the same as I recall, the defender calipers are a bit bigger.

Same in the rear, RRC/D90/Disco rear calipers share the same piston size with the 110 and 130 type calipers being a bigger.

Mounting bolt patterns are the same on all front calipers and the same on all rear calipers although different mounting bolts are used on early RRC's.

The fronts do not interchange with the rears.

Rear 110 calipers will work on a Disco or RRC but I am unsure of the rotor and which one needs to be used. For the cost of 110 rear calipers over here it's really not worth the extra $$$ you would pay over Disco Calipers
