So the rear cargo door is stuck shut. I was able to open it 3 times by lifting the lock up and pushing from the inside. Now it won't budge at all.

From searching it seems this spring is usually the culprit

but it looks like it didn't break (it felt secure). Are there two? Does it appear fine even if it is broken?

I have tried lubing behind the land rover oval badge from the outside.

I don't know if the door lock was replaced or the entire door at one point because none of my keys will turn the lock.

To remove the entire lock mechanism it looks like I need to take two bolts out from the door where it latches. If I cannot open the door, is it possible to remove everything?

Swift kick from the inside didn't work either.

Any ideas how to open it?

and you tried someone inside holding the lock open while someone outside pulls the handle?
i had to do that for a while and eventually drilled the lock tab and put a cotter pin to hold it up.
i think they all have the inside door pull too...

i never bothered replacing as i dont live anywhere it needs to be locked.

Before you do anything pop the Land Rover green oval off the rear handle and spray some lube eg PB Blaster all in there and work things around. That is a commonly over looked lube point.

Cheers

my D1 rear door latch would get stuck every year or so. it was just the spring not being strong enough to overcome the rust or whatever inside so first i'd spray some lube in from below at the ends of the metal handle seen from below, then use a small tool, often my key, to simply hook the edge of the release handle, and leverage it out again. this plus lube and a few engagements would have it going smooth again.
