DI Failed Fob Alarm Problem

I searched, but have not found the answer to my problem:
My keyless entry fob has been becoming less responsive lately. I replaced the battery in it, but that did not help.

Today it quit working entirely. I was in town and tried to use the fob to unlock the truck, but nothing happened, so I used the key to unlock the driver side door. When I opened the door, the alarm went off with the horn honking. Of course the truck would not start, I had to jump the starter "s" terminal with a screwdriver & a knife to get it running to get home.

The truck is still in "alarm mode". I need to get it out of alarm mode. I tried unlocking the driver door two times within one second, NG. Also tried holding the key in the unlock position for five seconds, NG.
I'm going to try fiddling with the fob to get it to work one last time to get it out of alarm mode. But if that does not work, does anyone have any suggestions?

When I get the alarm turned off, I'll need a good working keyless entry fob and instruction on how to reprogram it. So if anyone has one or two for sale, I'll be buying.

Reprogramming the fob is a dealer thing. My Disco is also a 1998 LSE. I bought a new fob and tried following some Nintendo-style sequence of pushing buttons and whatnot that I found online. Didn't work. Took it to the dealer. 10 minutes and $80 later the new fob was synced to my truck. Might as well buy 2 or 3 and get them all done at the same time since it shouldn't cost any extra.

Happened to me once I disconnected the battery and pulled a fuse I don't remember what fuse. But if the issue goes on any longer I got a 95 for sale for $500

I read in the RAVE there's an EKA code you enter with the key as an alternative to the fob in these situations. I'd look into this more. Also, someone with a Hawkeye or Faultmate could program a new fob.

I was able to get the alarm off by fiddling with the fob to get it to work, then I hit the lock button four times to re-sync it with the truck.

Now I just need to get a new fob or two & get them synced with the truck.
