'96 D1, recent diff fluid change. I noticed after an 80 mile drive that diff fluid was dripping from the passenger side of the rear axle. It's slung all over the underside of the truck in that area. Driver's side of the rear axle is clean. Blown right rear hub, maybe?

You probably overfilled it and also have a leaking axle seal.

Maybe. I cleaned out the vent hose and didn't have any more leaks on a 60 mile drive. I'll keep an eye on it.

Well, it looks like the leak is back. Last night I had the truck wound up to around 75-80MPH for about 15 minutes. After parking I noticed the smell of diff fluid. Upon inspection the pinion was dry, so I think that you guys called the bad hub seal correctly, just a little premature.

I'm such a chickenshit when it comes to a trying a new repair. The Wife will be on summer break shortly so I can afford to have the truck down for a few days while I try not to fuck up the hub service.

I would offer my assistance, since I'm in the area, but I've actually never done this repair. I'll have to cross that bridge one day with mine, I'm sure.
