Diff. fluid change

I had my Disco serviced at the dealership & since the vehicle did not get serviced at 7500 miles, they recommended the front & rear diff. fluid to be changed? I figured since I was carrying only 15K on the odometer, I thought this was usually done around 35 - 40K on most 4x4 all wheel drive SUV's? Later I get stuck with a $150 tab, they mentioned if I had any problems later down the road with my diff., and I decided not to get this service done, it would void my warranty. Oh ya, they also offered to balance & rotate my tires for $140  I get the feeling everytime I take this car into get it's normal 7500 miles service, I'm gonna get bent over.

Change it either yourself or at the dealer.
If you do it, use 75W90 Synthetic.
Make sure you can get the fill plug out before you drain.

its a very straight foward replacement...use 1/2 inch socket..it fits right in. also use a penetrating fluid like PB blaster. i run 80/140 synthetic because of the heavier loads i tend to haul but make sure you replace it...even more often if you spend a lot of time in water...cheers

Gabe it is normal to get "bent over  " every time you take it to the dealer.

you only get bent-over if you say YES to the dealer. Their threats about voiding the warranty for that type of issue are preposterous!
If you have the time, tools and inclination, do it yourself!
Keep your receipts and note on these receipts the odometer reading when items are serviced.
I have a file about 9 inches thick with only receipts showing what, number of miles and dates.
Have an issue? still under warranty? show receipts that align with service recommendations and they may try to play the void-game, but you will win eventually.
This burns my ass that Dealers scare people into thinking only they can do your maintenance with the heavy hammer of voiding warranties.

If that is the Service Manager espousing that line..., time to change and I sure hope another dealer is close by.

Good luck.
