Does anybody know what size tool the bottom plug of the differential takes?
I'm doing my first service, and I was looking under it. What the hell kinda socket-looking thing is that? thanks

Just use a 3/4 inch ratchet with no socket on the end, fits in nice and snug.

Just a reminder to take off the fill plug first. I.E. make sure you can fill it up before you drain it all out. Almost made that mistake when I serviced my transfer case, had to go buy a breaker bar to get it loose.

Yup a 1/2" drive with no socket fits just about perfectly. Definitely good enough to use with no worries.

But for reference sake I believe it techinically takes a 13mm square drive.

I've looked for them before at a couple different places and never found one. But when 13mm = 0.511in, it's hardly worth bothering to find that part.
