I posted this on another forum but haven't gotten a response yet :( ,

maybe you guys can help.

I'm relocating to Dubai and would like to bring my 2000 Disco II along. Does anyone know if there are any major differences between the US spec and Gulf spec models? I stopped by the local Land Rover dealer while in Dubai a few weeks ago and the salesman stated that I should consider a larger radiator, but other than that it should be okay.

are there any other modifications that I should consider?

any help is greatly appreciated.

Just guessing here, but I would think the biggest diff would be the emmissions and electrical stuff. OBD II compliance, cat converters, the radio frequencies, DOT spec headlights (wimpy)a plethera of warning labels about airbags and such, the trailer wiring, and the instrument markings (mph).

Dubai is a neat place, very civilized, and feels "safe" for an arab place.

With the internet you can always have parts shiped from the US if there is anything specific that you need. I suspect the dealer could also order us spec parts or NA market items.

Might also include spare parts for wear items in your household goods when you have them shipped over.

As far as the radiator, flush it and new coolant before you ship it, and make sure the fan clutch is working as it should.

Make sure your insurance company knows you are shipping it, especially if you have full coverage. They should cover it until the car is switched to the overseas registration.

There is a great Navy bar just off the port entrance, spent many hours there watching TV and such.

Good Luck!

You don't need a different radiator....the ones they sale there have the same one. And I've seen plenty of gas and diesel D2s there. Gas ones I saw all had ODBII and cats.
