DII dash in a DI.

Does anyone know if I can put a 2001 Disco dash in a 94 Disco? I was hoping to keep the older controls and instrument pod. My dash is curled and cracked and probably not worth fixing. I can get the entire dash with everything at a good price. I've searched around and haven't found much info on the swap. Thanks for any help.

Haven't found one in good shape up here. Also heard a rumor that the DII dash was less prone to warping due to minor changes in molding. Thanks for the input. Have you done the swap?

I'm currently putting a 2004 D2 dash into my 1993 Range Rover Classic. Using a D1 frame work welded into the rrc. So yes, I'm familiar with the swap! ha ha

Where the steering mounts and gauges are is slightly different but it's workable if you're handy with tools and a drill.

It should fit in fine overall and yes the D2 seems to be molded better and less prone to any issues.

Here is mine everything is bolt on 2003 into 1994 sorry for the air bag is not connected on mine but i thinks it share the same connector ,on the driver side i reused the old one but not connected also (ps not recomended to disconnect arbag if you do so you do it at your own risk )

Thanks for the info. I bought the whole thing out of a 2001. Happy to hear that it works. Going to try and use the airbags since the system seems to be working. Are you going to try and use the electronic climate controls ?

I am not running airbags as my 1993 truck didn't have them, and no wiring etc for them. Plus I am installing a 100% new custom wire harness front to rear.

He passenger air bag from the d1 mounts the same way and if I recall will fit right in - otherwise the d2 I believe shares he same connector and will work. Not positive - but either way you'll figure it out.

I need to find out if a d2 steering wheel and clock spring will fit on a d1 shaft/column. Tomorrow I will see. I want to use a d2 wheel and modify to use the stereo controls and also use the airbag wires to run a couple more switches on the wheel (with a toggle on the dash to lock out) for winch in/out.

no, climate control of the d2 will not work with the old wiring it is mechanical and the d2 is fully electronic .
Dont bother to add this feature.
remember before you throw the old put both units side by side and take out the small bracket that attach the block of relays under the passenger side footwell.

Well, I know the rrc spline was different, but the whole column is very different of course.

I will report back tonight after I swap them. The D2 clock spring has more connections obviously as it includes the radio controls. But until I see otherwise I will trust "Redhawkrovers" above. Thanks!

Making sure I transfer everything while both dashboards are out is a great idea. Thanks. I will post if the airbag connections are the same or not.

Thanks. Holy smokes! Portal axles on a Disco, that's so cool. How much of a difference did you notice by running the Bosch intake?

the portal axles is in progress the pictures that you saw was for my friends .
As for the Bosch manifold it was a fun project at idle it is alot smoother i feel it is faster in the 60/70mph i still want to install an aftermarket fuel pressure regulator fuel echonomies no noticible difference.
mabe after tuning the pressure i will feel the difference .
in my conversion i used my old injectors and fuel rail from an 1997 ,if i will redo it again i will use the d2 injectors/fuel rain and save alot of truble but i am not certain that the 14 cux will adjust it PWM for the injectors because the flow is less than the original (175 cc for the d and 195 cc for the d1).

What kind of fasteners are those?

Is steering weird? Looks like wheel would move back and forth too much.
What kind of half shafts work with that?
