My new set of pads are a bit odd. 2 of them have directional arrows and a small opening in the backing plate that is possibly a vent. There are no instructions that indicate which of the pads goes against the caliper piston (inside) and which pads fit on the caliper retaining bracket (outside). Anyone know whether the directional pads go on the inside or the outside?

They are genuine pads.

Quick followup: The hole in the backing plate of the directional pads is a semi-circle that has the same diameter as, and aligns with the caliper piston. Following the logic of my childhood toy where you put the triangle in the triangle shaped hole, I'm guessing that this is intentional and that the directional pad goes on the inside of the caliper against the piston.

the "new" rear pads have some sort of anti squeak pad with that cutout....that should go with the arrow pointing up and on the inside piston side.....

ask how they came up with that and i cant tell you but ive been told how to install them correctly by LR

go figure
