DII oem fog light switch to aux lights??

Newby here!
OK so I have already read some old threads on this subject but I have to ask...no ques. is a dumb ques...right? I have a '99 DII with new ARB bar and newly attatched IPF 900XS. I would like to use the oem foglight switch that remains from my old factory bumper/foglights so that I can keep the original function of the old foglamps...is this possible? I know that many here have recommended using simple on/off switch like the wiper and criuse control switch. Why can't I just use the pre-existing wiring that operated the oem foglamps to my new 65w IPF driving lights?
Please be gentle...remember i'm new to this and would greatly appreciate the info. Thanks!

Wire the 900XS's to a relay and use the factory switched wire to trigger the relay. Worked fine on mine till I got tired of being able to use the aux lights only with the low beam headlights. Don’t have the truck with me today but PM me and I’ll show you how to rewire the switch to allow the use of the aux lights at any time.

On the DII, the Fog lights are controlled by the BCU. Hence why the switch is only momentary, it sends the 'command' to the BCU, and the BCU decides to turn on/off the lights.

Per all the other threads on this, if your aftermarket fogs are 55w each or less, you can safely use the factory wiring. If they are more, then yes, wire the fog light wire to a relay, and the relay to the lights.

If you want to keep your fogs on with your main beams, you can get someone to make a Testbook change to do this. Stealership charged me an 2 hours labor for them to find the setting in Testbook and change it. I had to forward them parts of the workshop manual to even convince them it was possible. Works great now.

The other solution is to buy a Cruise Control switch, and swap the switch cover, and run all your own wiring. This is what most people do for rack or other lights on the rig to keep the factory switch look.

Is expensive if you are *adding* switches, because you have to buy a Fog/Aux switch (~$60) AND a Cruise Control switch (~$25). Use the switch from the Cruise Control, and Cover from the Fog or Aux switch.

Personally, for my rack lights, I just bought the Cruise Switch, installed on the left (upside down) and convinced myself it looked like my Rack Lights shining down the trail. For my rear Aux light, I used a Cruise Switch, but drilled a hole in one of the Blanking Covers for the light. It's still not labeled.

My $0.02.

A blast from the past....

Is a Testbook change the only way to get the fog lights to come on with the high beams? I used the fog light circuit to power some LED spot lights and would like to be able to run them with the high beams. Does anyone know how hard it is to rewire using the fog light switch? Thank for any help.

I run my roof rack lights using the factory fog light wire to trigger the relay, so they come on with the factory switch. I was told that you have to go into the BCU to get it to run the fogs and highs at the same time. My buddy has a Autel scanner that is supposed to be able to do that, but I have not tried it yet. Maybe this will motivate me to try.

The Hawkeye will also allow you to reprogram the BCU fog function - 3 options; no fog, fog off with main beam and fog not affected by main beam (main beam is "high beam"). Just reprogrammed my BCU tonight for the fogs and to get rid of the seat belt chime.
