Wow. I've got 18" Nitto Terragrapplers on 18's and my rear tire carrier is now breaking away at the top on each side where the bolts mount to the rear door. The bottom two bolts are both gone. :ack:

What the hell? It's definitely a heavy wheel/tire combo but I didn't expect that. I guess I need a new rear tire mount, but what about the spare? Can I reinfornce the stock carrier or what do I do here?

Thanks.

Have you pulled the interior panel and seen how things look from the inside?

Put the spare in the back for now and if you need a new carrier the Lucky8 one is plenty strong and can hold a 37" tire.

I was needing a new rear bumper. I bought the Hi country offroad rear bumper and swing away tire carrier. Their swing away holds 2 jerry cans and either a hi lift or a 3rd can. Pretty cool design. Plus their pricing for both is what most DII bumpers alone are.

I just switched to 16 steels with 33" muds. Dont want to have mine pull out too??????

Good luck

HunterAK, how do you like the terra grapplers on the 18s? Mine has hurricanes with some shitty highway tires on it now and I've been considering going to the nittos for several reasons, most of which come down to the availability of 16s at a reasonable price around here and the on road feel of the shorter sidewall.

Thanks for any input.
