Does anyone have pictures of their Disco II on tires bigger than 265-75-16s on a 2-3" lift? What are the Pros and Cons of going bigger than 265-75-16?

Here are some pics of my 04 on 255-85s. These pics are with a 2.5" OME lift and Fox shocks. I've since moved up to a 3" rovertym lift with Bilstein 7100s in front and Fox monotubes out back and I'm very pleased.

this is my first time posting pics so hopefully it works.

Sorry for not including this in the last post.

The only con you will find other than decreased gas mileage is that they may rub your front arms at full lock. This may only be in 2003-04 models where the steering was revised to decrease the turning radius.

Check out the DII gallery, you'll find a bunch.
Here's some of mine with 285/75's and 4" lift back when I had a roof:

Damn, looking at that 2nd pic gives you an idea of how much articulation imbalance you have w/ stock watts links...... the RTEs make a HUGE difference,,,

I bought that and have since sold it.
But seems to me it would be fairly easy to make one with inexpensive brackets, similar to how you would rig a hi-lift on a front bumper. If you buy it look for non-LR-specific parts,,,you'll save 50%. If you make it, you can use steel plates, wing nuts, and some rubber or duct tape to limit the rattling. I drilled small holes in the wings of the wing nuts & wrapped wire thru each, conecting the wing nut on top to the one on the bottom so they couldn't loosen up & risk spilling the ax & shovel on the road (it was CO, not must rust going on, so I never took 'em off).

You wouldn't by chance happen to have some close up pics of the mounts on your truck. I'd like to fab some up and having a pic would make it a little easier to get a nice rattle free solution the first try.

Just a little rub on the driver's side front fender flare in the back of the wheel arch. I sent a PM with info. If you want some pics i can snap some so you can see just where it rubbed and how minimal the problem was.

The other problem you'll have going with larger tires is that you will lose some engine braking, it will be much more sluggish when accelerating, it will become "tippier" unless you offset your wheels, and it won't crawl as well. Depending on the terrain you are driving on these will matter more or less to you.

The benefit is you will gain a little bit of clearance.

So you have the big tires and lots of lift, what have you done to increase the strengh of your (now far beyond their intended service parameters) stock components ?

Have you upgrated your axles ? have you re-geared the truck to gain back lost power and compression braking ? have you addressed the weak carrier issue ? have you got a plan to remove an axle shaft retaining nut torqued to 450 LBS/FT out in the woods ?
