Hello All-

It's been a while since I've posted anything- A quick search of the archives doesn't answer my question, and/or maybe I didn't choose the right wording for the search engine....

Does anybody know of a substitute fuel pressure regulator for a 3.9L V8 as found in my '95 Disco 1? The LR factory part number is ETC 8494. Am choking on the pricing of $150-170 thru Brit Pacific or Rovers North. LR has them for upwards of $250-275. O'rielly AutoParts, for instance, has US made units- some for universal applications, for $30-50.....

Anybody know or tried an after market regulator that will work? I haven't looked up the fuel pressure requirements in my service manual yet, so that will definately define which unit may work....

My Disco was faltering/stopping- I could hear the fuel pump whining to beat the band as the engine rpm fluctuated below the normal 750 idle rpm. Replaced the fuel pump, put in a new filtering screen, and replaced the fuel filter. The Disco ran fine all day, then the Engine faltered again today while making a turn in traffic- therefore I'm looking at the pressure regulator....

thanks-

Tim

it sounds like you need to look at the pump. A fuel pressure gauge and a hand vacuum pump will verify this.

the aftermarket stuff isn't any cheaper and its usually junk. I've use the aeromotive one a few times and dialing in the pressure was a challenge

off the top of my head with out looking at books lr suggests a minimum of 35 psi and a max of 65 psi.. quite often Ihave found a good running engine to do 40'ish at idle.
