Do you need to drop the oil pan to remove the bolts to the torque converter? I’m trying to pull the engine but having issues reaching the bolts to the converter.

no. you only need to take the cover plate with a dozen different size fasteners off. then use many socket extensions

But wouldn't the drive plate still be connected to the engine if I removed those dozen bolts?

Alright. I was able remove the bolts with a narrow head ratchet after positioning the bolt head near the corner of the oil pan. Not ideal and there has to be an easier way to access those bolts. If anyone has a trick please let me know. I’m sure the reinstall is going to be more difficult

When I put the 4 bolts back into the converter (practically blind by feel), I use a magnetic nut grabber to insert and start the bolt. Once it’s going, then i use a socket on a wobble extension to finish.

When it's time to reinstall i'll just pull the pan. Will be pulling the covers to reseal anyway so this will make my life a lot easier.

I take the pan off just so I don’t bend the reluctor tabs. When you put them back in don’t final torque them till all 4 are installed. That way the holes are easier to line up and not cross thread anything
Thanks for the tip
