1999 disco 2 / 225,000 miles. Left for work put rear windows down, arrive at work and will not ascend using either the center console or individual switches on each door. Checked the fuses and relays in cab and under hood and all seemed fine. Called my indy and mobile mechanic who showed up and he troubleshot it while I worked. He eventually pulled the bcu and tested all the pins on the harnesses. He was able to find the front window position ground on one of the harnesses but we couldn't find for the rear. We are thinking the Bcu is bad and im just looking for some validation or is there something we may have overlooked. Prior to today never had any power or switch related issues with rear windows aside from motors and regulators. Thanks in advance for any info.

Since last nights post have learned the BCU in disco 2 does not control rear side windows, rather a separate circuit. Undertaking more research, but if you've been down this road any help is much appreciated.

Check Fuse 13 in the passenger compartment fusebox, there is a relay in there as well, but I believe that it is a fixed one and not replaceable. There are six fixed relays and four replaceable. Try the yellow relay marked 'RRWIND', this text is moulded into the plastic fusebox case, not the relay. I think this may be the one, if not it will be the tailgate wiper relay.

Also, try unplugging and re-plugging the connectors on the back of that fusebox.

All good on the relays and fuses and i did rule out the child lock. The "fixed relay" you referred to is that what is referred to as the IDM, intelligent driver module? Have a feeling that may be the problem so i'm going to pull it and try to clean the contacts. Also the turn signal /hazard lights have failed despite good fuses .I'm thinking they may be powered through IDM as well .

The IDM is a small PCB that is embedded into the main printed wiring board on one side, I didn't pull both covers off this one but I seem to remember that there are two boards sandwiched together in there:

My black D2 is Nov 98 build, one of the very early ones.

Removed the fuse panel to replace and realized i had an 03-04 panel as the replacement. So i ended up cleaning the old one as it had a little corrosion on it and reinstalled. Apparently all is working again so the corrosion must have been in all the right places to screw up rear windows.
