Hello Disco world. Recently purchased a 2005 LR3 HSE 2 days ago. First LR ever. Trying to love the vehicle but realize that this may be a high maintenance type of relationship with some disfunction already. But I’m dedicated to her at this point so hopefully me and her can start to have some quality time. Some of her issues off the bat, rear ceiling AC vents not blowing air, radio has power but no sound and/or connection to steering wheel controls, steering wheel controls won’t let me switch modes on Central Indicator Panel, keep getting the Suspension Amber/Red Warning indicator, Coolant is fine but low coolant keeps message/prompt keeps showing up, same with wiper fluid. So me and my new girlfriend are having issues already and she’s coming with baggage to say the least. But she look so good though! Needless to say me and her are going to our initial therapy session (first diagnostic at local euro mechanic shop that I once trusted my old BMW with). But I’m here for a headlight question. I’m triaging here so lights are important to drive with. So I thought maybe I could work on those myself. Pretty simple right. Not so much

My high beams are working but my low beams are not. Seams like a simple fix. Not really. @ least for a novice such as myself to the Disco world. In the manual is says “ Halogen bulbs are for main beam, low beam and for fog lamps”. For Xexon units it says “they are for low/main beam headlight units (which apparently applies to some vehicles and not all) They then give a diagram of how to change a high or dipped beam bulb (which they say is Halogen). Confused. They then give a diagram on how to change a Xenon bulb (which is what I think I have). I’ve checked all the fuses related to lights. All entact. I called the Land Rover Dealership ( Which is really run by Jaguar) and the parts and service department couldn’t answer the following questions and just said come in and we’ll take ur money cause we know she has baggage and we want to enable your distinction:

1). Do The 2005 LR3’s only come with either halogen bulbs as an option for low and high beams or do they only come with Xenon Units as an option for both low and high beams? Or are both Halogen and Xenon found in one vehicle to provide low and high beams?

2). If what seams to be a Xenon Unit in my vehicle, does that Unit provide high and low beams? If so, why would the high beams work and the low not?

Just want to get my low beams to work so I can go on a date with new girlfriend @ night. When I turn my Lamp Master switch to lights. Nothing. When I turn it to Auto, high beams come on and not low.
Sorry for the long first question. Some
you are in relationships as well and I just wanted some1 to talk to that also might have dated a girl with baggage😂

So some of the things your talking about are simple. Probably finding out why someone got rid of it. I wan't to warn you about the headlamps. It very well could be 2 bulbs. The high beams are seperate bulbs. What I want to tell you is that if you have High Intensity Discharge lighting in your truck. Do not grab that bulb when the lights are turned on. That will possibly knock your dick in the dirt. Always make sure they are OFF before you try to remove one of those bulbs.

Thx Discostew. I got the car @ an dealer for $4,500 with 122,000 that was a trade in. Car fax only had it having two owners with the last one religious on maintenance. I figured it would make a good overland project. Definitely not a daily driver. Well aware of the issues with LRs especially with the LRD2s. Thought this would be a better choice. Thx 4 the advice. I did turn the lights off b4 Disconnecting headlamps assembly. So no dirt 4 me as of yet. Much appreciated. Hopefully therapy will be good tomorrow.
