Hi all,
I'm having a minor emergency. I've been mostly lurking since Feb 2003, although DWEB devotees may remember me dunking my Timex Triathlon to 100m last fall just to prove to John Lee that it could take it.

Yesterday I decided to powerwash my engine and drivetrain (mistake?). Today, I changed the oil.

Now the DI won't rev above 2000 without shaking like heck and throwing codes. I did notice that this hose is noticeable missing! Also, what is the name of the part (arrow) to the left? It's broken. SEE PICTURE BELOW

I need to drive to work in the am! Any chance?

Hose connects to what on Left?

Dave,
What does the hose connect to on the left? I thought it would be a simple hole, but appears to be a sensor? Anyway the metal cylinder is full of something!
Bueler?

Yeah, its just a hose that connects the two fittings together. The piece you see in the valve cover is just a simple plastic filter. They don't look like they go together because the nipple on the valve cover is so much larger, but they do--you can get the hose for a few dollars at your local LR dealer. I doubt you will find it at the auto parts store, but you could make your own out of two pices of hose (each to fit one of the nipples) and a hose clamp for under $2 if you so choose.

As far as your drivablity problem, its probably unrelated to the missing hose, but you never know. put on the hose and see.

the hose could be a possibility of the erratic idle, but I would bet money that you got the maf sensor wet. it is the sensor that is located after the air box and before the intake plentum. they are very sensitive to water. you can drive the moisture off of it with a high quality electrical contact cleaner & let dry....
