Hi all,

I've done some searching and reading but have yet to find a definitive answer. Can anyone tell me if the front and rear door bass speakers are 6.5inch(165mm) standard drivers in an 03 Disco II?

Are the subs in the rear cargo area standard 6.5inch drivers as well?

I understand that some cutting will likely be involved as aftermarket speakers will generally have a much deeper magnet. I would like to confirm the diameter of the OEM speakers before ordering replacements.

Thanks in advance.

Thanks Peter.

I should mention that I have what I believe Land Rover calls the high level non Harman system in my SE7. Tweeters in the A-pillars, mids and bass drivers in the front doors, tweeters and bass in the rear doors and two subs in the cargo area.

Do you recall if 6.5inch drivers will fit in the rear doors with some cutting?

pretty much any 6.5" will fit in the housing but you may need to do some trimming if they have larger magnets. that said, unless you match the ohms, you're not going to get much out of the subs. I think they're supposed to be 2 ohms.

Thanks all,

I'm not worried to much about matching impedance as I have an aftermarket amplifier in the truck that is stable to 2 ohms on the sub channel.

I tried Crutchfield and only received one result for the rear passenger door speakers. I'm pretty sure that 6.5 inch drivers will fit in the front doors and 6.5 inch subs can replace the factory subs with some cutting. I do understand that the front door mid-range speakers are connected to the grill and can not be easily replaced. That leaves me with the option of replacing the factory A-pillar tweeters and front door bass speakers with two way components. I would like to replace the rear passenger door speakers with matching component speakers as well. I'm just not sure that 6.5 inch drivers will fit the factory mount points. I'll pull apart a rear door to confirm and post up a definitive listing of speakers that will and won't fit a DII as I go along ie. diameter/depth etc.

I put 6.5" components in the front door. put the tweeter in the door behind the original upper speaker grill and just disconnected the tweeter in the A-Pillar.
Did a custom deal in the back with 6x9s. Sounds so much better. I use the foot wells of thr back seat for my gear so it blocks the stock speaker location.
Im running a cheap fold out 7" touch screen head unit to power all the speakers. Not using any factory stuff anymore. Ran all new bigger gauge wires to all speakers.
