I did this install last night. Figured I'd add a few things I ran into.
The OEM module had crapped out and blew the trailer light fuse under the hood. (The one that makes the bulb flash when extra amps are drawn).
I replaced the fuse and still nothing worked. I bought a 4 wire flat connector and spliced it into the factory harness (the pdf on this thread helped, thanks!). The module was definately fried, all I got was dim flashers, parking lights worked good though.
So here's what I did:
1. Remove the Hella 7 Pin Connector bracket
It's 2 1/2" bolts, replace the bolts when your done
2. Remove the Rear Tail light and the factory control module
Proceed to the FAQ - everything else is the same.
I just cut the factory connecter and pulled the wires through the grommet. I figure there's no way I'll be needing the thing designed to plug into it anytime soon. I decided to keep the plug inside the vehicle and buy an extension to shut inside the door.
I already bought the Hoppy 48055 (It's the 4 Flat plug with LEDs on the end to test). So I went back to buy 48845 (the taillight converter by itself) and 47115 (48" extension).
Oh, Advance Auto Parts had everything in stock, and you can order online. I went to Walmart and the selection sucked.
