I reciently bought a set of 03/04 Headlights on ebay for my 2000 DII. I used to have 3 different web pages bookmarked with the full tech walkthrough on how to do the conversion, the best of which was a blue truck from the UK. For some reason I've lost some of my bookmarks and all 3 of the pages on the headlight conversions were lost. If you have a link to a web page that shows how to do the headlight conversion please post it up, it would really help me out. Thanks.

Also, I do need both the left and right side trim pieces that go under the 03/04 headlights, if you have these, contact me. And if you want to buy my 2000 DII headlights or turn signals PM me.

Well, I think the best one you were describing was on disco2.com and is now down. (I was watching those auctions! :) ) I have the text saved, but no pics if you'd like that just let me know.

Because of my disdain for pdfs, here's the text as a word doc.:

Also are you planning on doing the whole front bumper or just the headlamps?? Actually doesn't look to be too bad of a project.

I've been toying with doing this, but the '04 CDL cable/shifter is the next upgrade that will get done on my Rover!

Good luck!

haha, yep. I've found that far too often it'll crash people's computers who don't have the newest reader. Not to mention it's just bloody slower. If adobe can make a faster pdf, then I"m all for it.

p.s. sorry for the hijack - but hopefully the instructions made up for it! ;)

PDF is fast, just certain versions of the viewer are slow as anything.. I think it was 6.0 that is slow as mollases... When you convert something to PDF also, you could always save it as an earlier version.

The word doc is a bit difficult. I'm doing the conversion right now, I just need the wiring instructions as I've got the other part done.

Anyone have the pdf with the pics? Specifically the wiring portion.

Thanks

Ross

Ross I'm about to undertake the same venture and would apprieciate any tips you may have and also ask if you can post pictures of your wiring setup. We'd all owe you a lot as am sure many off us would love to do this conversion. Many thanks,
Tom

Tom,

With the help of the directions that badfysh passed on to me I finished up the wiring yesterday in a couple of hours.

Just use the directions as shown. Keep in mind that when it refers to the "drivers side" that it is talking about a Right hand drive UK Disco. Also, the instructions don't call for extending the wires and if I did it over again I'd add six to eight inches of wire to each just to make the connection easier.

Anybody with an 03-04 or that has converted to these lights had any problems with the housing fading or scratching? It seems every car that has plastic headlights eventually starts to fade, or fog over, is that a problem with these?

anyone know the wiring setup to keep the main and high beams on together.

this is the second DII i have done this conversion on (about 6 months ago), did it all from memory this time...

did everything and told myself i would wire in the realy later...

i am doing alot of driving in the dark now that winter is here, and i need to get these wired up for better viability - but i am having trouble with the wiring of the relay to set up for both beams to be on at the same time...and i can't find the directions i had the first time...

any help?

thanks in advance.

While we're back on this for a bit, anyone have the trim pieces below the headlamps they want to sell or know of a dealer that sells these reasonably (my local one is way overpriced on these). I did post a while ago in the WTB, but no one seems to ever check that.

Just email or PM me or post a dealer. Thanks

98 DII, sure it's not a D1? I thought 98 DIIs only existed outside of NA. I did this conversion a while back and can give you some help.
