Newly installed as of today. Couldn't be happier witht he install, except....
Ever notice that when installing something, there is always 5 minutes in the six hour job you wish you could have back. My 5 minutes resulted in slightly scratching the powdercoat on the snorkel by trying to keep the cut out of the fender small, so it would barely go around the base of the snorkel.

Looks good Rob. I LOVED cutting holes in the disco. I did it at the shop at work and people were freaking out.
Hi Jen! Did you go play today?

I keep saying that a snorkle will be the very last thing I do to my disco. However, I think that time is comming soon. I still have some tweeking underneath the truck before I start with the bling :D

Blinging safely through the swamps of Florida :)

Hey Sybil - I didn't play today. Did all my maintenance so I could play tomorrow! I think 2 or 3 more soaks in a tub full of Go-Jo and I should have all the gear oil smell off. And the nice citrus aroma it will leave instead will blend perfectly in the state of citrus and sun - no one will suspect that I am a yard-wrenching-monkey...shhhh don't tell!

I love the bling factor of my snorkel, it doesn't stand out much since my truck is black, but I really love it for the no-more-mud-in-my-filter-box factor. And living on the Port of Tampa during hurricane season, with the bay on both sides of my redneck front porch, being the only one that can make it home from being evacuated is priceless. If someone's houseboat ends up in my front yard I wonder if I can charge them rent???? :p

Blinging the night away baby,
Jen

how's the wind noise?

Jen/Rob, nice jobs on the snorkels! How's the noise with these things now? As far as driving on the highway, or with your window rolled down?

I already have an SD rack, so the wind noise from that masks all other noises on my rig. I think the rack could mask a 747 taking off.

If your ears are close, you can hear intake sounds but it's nothing like the CAI I had on my e30 BMW, that thing screamed in a good way!

I'm with you Steve. That snorkel is money. However, I need to consult Dr. GBR for some drivetrain action before adding the bling. :p

I haven't really noticed much noise at all, but my fan clutch is shot so all I hear is my jet engine roar and some tire noise from the mud terrains. Just turn up that stereo NorCal and you won't notice a thing! ;)

Rob,

What brand snorkel is that? (I can't read the lettering at the top). Do you have a picture of how it connects to the air cleaner (under the hood)?

Thanks, John

Looks like it's a Safety Devices Snorkel. I like that one these best, but I've only seen it for the DII.

It is a SD snorkel. Here is a picture of the inner cowling mating up with the outer cowling from inside the engine bay. Note fender awaiting cutting in the background (yikes)
