I've been searching but can't find the answer. Regarding the side trim/molding on a D1....I assume it is just held on with double sided tape? If it is removed, does anyone know if there are any holes or unsightly issues? Thanks in advance!

It's stuck on with adhesive / tape and there will be holes underneath. If you plan on putting those back on, be careful because all of the molding is now EOL and impossible to find. Im still searching for a set at a reasonable price...

I know it’s not the best thing to do but I taped mine when I repainted my 98. You would really have to look hard to notice and seeing as it’s not a show vehicle I’m happy with the result.

95 and older dont have holes

some of the full wheel arch moldings have clips, but the style you have is just tape

I can see holes on on mine since they are beginning to peel up. I have a 98.

As someone else posted on another LR forum:

"The factory trim on the Disco I's is just on with double side tape. If you remove it you will notice square holes under the trim for installing factory full trim that also cover the wheel wells like on the II's. I wouldn't remove it unless you plan on filling in the holes or installing trim upgrade."
