Discovery II Lift/Drivetrain Questions

I just jumped back into the Discovery world yesterday and bought another truck. Good looking all around and fresh off a total engine rebuild I'm prepared to start getting it ready for the woods.

It came with 2' spacers and stock suspension.... I want to add new 2' springs and shocks to take it up 2 more inches but my question is how much more of the drive train am I going to effect? I figured both drive shafts but wanted to know what else I'm going to throw off with 4' of total lift and what else I'm going to have to change out?

Thanks a lot, glad to be back.

4" of total lift will open up a whole world of extra crap that will have to be done in order for it to ride worth a damn.

Stick with a 2" suspension lift.

I say 3" as well.
I have 3" springs (Terra Firma HD springs and +2' shocks), with stock drive shafts and no issues. I did have to free up some more length on the rear brake lines, but my springs are retained. If they weren't retained it would have too much drop out and the lines would break for sure.

Awesome thanks for that, did you just buy the 3' inch Terrafirma kit?

So I need spring retainers throughout, and possibly brake lines and driveshafts?

Thanks for the help

I bought the springs used from someone on here, and the shocks from Justin at Lucky8.
The springs are TF052 for the front, and TH027V for the rear. I got exactly 3", and my truck has a rack and TerraFirma front bumper. They are a bit stiffer than factory, so keep that in mind. I have heard of some people with factory bumpers that the front sits a little high, so they add D1 rear spring perches to get the back up a bit more to match.

As far as retainers, I use big hose clamps for the tops, made the retainers for the rear lowers, and got the front lowers from Lucky8 as well.

I don't think 1 inch is going to make any difference.

You guys are all freaking out over a possible 4" lift comprised of 2" spacers and 2" suspension lift.

I'd be curious to learn what else he's running, or planning on running...bumpers, winch, sliders, driveshaft (front), tires, etc.

We all know that a 3" lift can really be 2" after some equipment and certainly after time makes those springs sag like Garrett's tits.

LOL...
Do you really think a hose clamp can offer several hundreds of pounds of clamping force?
... and I don't buy arguments like "I've been driving all over Moab with these and not one broke."

Really big wire ties is where it's at!

Other guys were doing it with success, so I decided to try it. I use 2 big clamps per spring, and carry some spares in the truck. I have not broken one yet, but most of the trail use has been done in Uwharrie. I figured it was worth a try.
