Discovery rear subwoofer connection?

Does the rear sub require a special CD player that can utilize it? Recently replaced my rear sub speakers only to realize it is currently not hooked up to my Clarion aftermarket CD player?

I recall glancing at a post where someone mentioned that most decks/players can not connect to it.

Help and input is appreciated :)

In my old DI I had an aftermarket headunit and the shop that put it in hooked the sub up as well. The headunit had "sub control" so not sure if it has to have that. The shop did say it was a little tricky. On my DII i still have the stock headunit, so i'm not sure about on those.

you have 4 channel out on the stock head unit. It goes to an amplifier that has a 2 channel out for the subwoofer. If you bypassed the factory amp you will not have any sub woofers without doing additional work.

Who still uses CDs?

What robertf said. If you bypass the factory amp you lose the rear subs. I had a aftermarket deck in using the factory amp and the rear subs worked fine.
