Alright. My DW took a dump. Actually it has alwasy been a POS el-cheapo hunk of crap that the previous owner put in the house just so they could say "New Appliances" The thing has always been such a lump of junk that I think stacking dirty dishes in a hole in the cabinets and letting the roaches lick them clean would make for more efficient clean-up. It is a Frigidaire

So I'm looking on the web last night and I find the Bosch SHE44C02 at Sears for 699 in stainless with a 100 rebate. Any good? Your suggested alternative?

I am a gadget addict, but I never give a poo about junk like a DW until they conk out, so I know less than nothing and I'm engaging the braintrust that is Dweb for guindance...

I just put in a Bosch (46 I think?) to replace the dying 27 year old Maytag and WOW, is it quiet! I can't tell if its running sometimes...

my brother and parents recently installed some Bosch appliances in their homes. they didn't get very good ratings in Consumer Reports, but then again i never put much faith in those people. my brother got the dishwasher (not sure what model, but in the $900 range) and my parents got a SS gas range.
both are about 6 months old. so far so good.

i like Bosch appliances from a design standpoint alone. i like how they have integrated the controls into the top of the door, so you don't see any from the front. very clean look. then again i like the Viking line for its robust look and feel.

i think i am getting turned on. i better go.

I have a Siemens front-loader washer and dryer. Bosch/Siemens are excellent appliances. Good design and made in North Carolina.

I still have the PO's Maytag refrigerator and DW. Maytag is junk. Poor design and poor quality.

I had a Bosch DW in the UK. It was the best one I've ever had... though that particular model was loud.

I bought a Whirlpool Quiet Partner III from Best Buy this summer. Been great so far. Cleans about as well as the Bosch, but quieter.

I'm sure the newer Bosch's are more quiet than the older one I had (was probably ~5-6 years old).

When I first saw this post, I was going to say go BOSCH. Then I read further and saw what you were looking at. One simple comment; There is NO alternative. I have the same one, and it is amazing. Quiet, clean, well designed, perfectly engineered. Like everything BOSCH. Do the right thing, just buy it. lol.

If it does not have a grinder in the bottom don't get it.

When I got a new stainless, a comparable bosch was much more than a kenmore elite and the bosch did not have a grinder.

Likely stainless interior is way overkill. My kenmore was about 25-30% less expensive and the only thing that it does not clean is the grills from my outdoor grill.

I was just looking at a Bosch the other day (the 25 yo old GE is showing its age...) and it looked like a good choice

LOL, yeah I looked around for a Bosch Platinum +4 dishwasher, but settled on the #46 model. It has no "grinder" in the bottom but a user serviced filter basket(less to go wrong) and in 4 weeks of use there hasn't been anything in the basket...

i just installed a double-drawer type dishwasher in a clients house. i forget the brand, whirpool or kenmore. anyway it has two seperate drawers that each wash dishes independently. and there isnt a door that swings down. its simply just like opening a drawer in the cabinet. the advantage is a) you dont have to run a full load if you dont have to, b) you dont have to bend over to fill the top drawer c)i think they just look better

I bought the top of the line KitchenAid. It works. It's not as quiet as the best Bosch, but it's quiet. Never had an issue with it, cleans like nobody's business. A friend just bought the same one, it arrived busted. They came out next day and repaired it, and it works like a champ. $1,000 may seem like a lot, but it's all stainless, and I've never seen a dirty dish come out of it.

As soon as I saw Bosch in this thread I immediatly started thinking up a platinum plug comment, however I am obviously far too late. Good job everyone.

Bosch SHE44C02. I am a proud new owner. Right now I'm rubbing all my white dishes on the underside of my car to get 'em good-n-dirty for the Bosch's maiden voyage. Thanks for the input everyone.
