Disregard, found it on my second search of "power steering pump", 10 threads or so.
Just plain broken.
First thing, it's freezing here. High today is 17 deg/0 to -10 wind chill with the sun shining. Pretty crazy for us here in N. Al.
So, Im driving to work this morning, and had to give the steering a forcible jerk in order to exit the highway.
Got to the parking lot and there is an ugly knocking noise.
No leaks, pump fluid circulating in the resovoir as per usual.
Two things;
1. the serpentine is riding on top of the back edge of the power steering pulley (not on backwards, but will check again none the less-heads recently done)
2. the belt tensioner is jumping, which is where Im getting the knocking noise.
I suspect the pump shaft has snapped given the cold, and is working itself forward.
Anybody experience similiar?
