Hi guys, I'm having a similar problem to CTLR's My 96 Disco just started to make a loud clunk by the front left tyre, it sounds when you turn left at slow speeds, and when you reverse and the steering is to the right, this happens like once or twice a day, any ideas? afew weeks ago I replaced the rotoflex in the rear, could this be related? I can not see anything wrong with the rotoflex, or the drivesaft, Also are the tyres supposed to spin when they are all on the air and in Drive? cause all four where spining and whn I touched the brakes the ABS kicked in and it was very noisy, altough non related I think, thanks, and sorry for the lenghty thread

My 96 disco just started making the same noise last week. I couldn't see anything rubbing, and I have an appointment today with dealer. Happens to me turning either direction, forward or reverse.

Just get under there and tighten them alll down. Check the torque in manual, they need to be darned tight. Radius arms should be anti siezed for articulation too.

Marco, unless you happen to be on that "strongest man" show, i doubt you can easily reproduce same amount of stress as 2.5 ton truck happens to put on parts.. :) You just need to check everything, thats only way. Including wheel bearings that may clunk when they become loosy :)

Yup, they determined mine was cv joint/axleshafts. $900 total to repair.

"Radius arms should be anti siezed for articulation too."

Brian, can you explain this further? What are you applying anti-seize to? Are you implying that adding anti-seize somewhere will give more articulation?

Tell the to sod off. Buy new heavy duty CV joints and axle kit from Rovertracks. About same money, but you can install it yourself and have parts that most likely will be outlast your truck :)

Well I would if I was paying for it. Yay warranty! I was actually looking at the GBR shafts since they are local, but upgraded axleshafts wont really be required for a while for me.

Marco - dont faint yet :) There are tons of things that cheaper and more likely to cause this clunk :)
