Do we really have an alarm?

Ok I really need some advice, my new LR3 SE7 got broken into this past weekend. The guy seemed to know that land rovers dont have a motion sensor so he broke the passenger side window in the middle of the night and just leaned in and cleaned us out - guess the only way to set the alarm off is if you break the seal to the door - if you ask me that is kind of pathetic for a 45k vehicle - so i need to know from someone, is there any type of motion sensor that i could possibly install? i dont understand why LR wouldnt put a motion sensor of some sort - every other high end vehicle seems to have them.....any suggestions would be great......

You do have an alarm. No alarm can prevent someone breaking a window and cleaning out the stuff inside. A motion detector isn't even going to prevent that. Car alarms go off all the time and no one even blinks.

You can add a shock sensor, glass break sensor or microwave sensor easily to any Land Rover alarm by simply wiring it to the hood pin trigger. That way, there's no way to get in without setting off the alarm- which will be ignored by everyone.

you misunderstood my point - yes i know its not a prevention by having an alarm that sounds - BUT - it does prevent someone from taking their sweet time by busting in every window around the whole car and taking everything you may have out little by little - what good is having all that space if you cant ever feel safe leaving stuff in the back - i didnt post here to get a sarcastic answer - i just wanted some advice on how to possibly put in a sensor, whether it helps or not is up to each individual and their opinion, i merely wanted to know if its possible and what brands are good to look at -

I told you how to do it- you wire it so that the trigger of the aftermarket sensor trips the Land Rover alarm by making it think someone opened the hood. Remember to diode isolate everything. Any good shop who knows what a diode is can do it for you-
DEI makes most alarms, so there's dozens of brands of sensors. Personally, I like shock sensors, but breaking glass carefully doesn't always set them off. Glass break sensors are easy to get past by using a wet towel and a spring loaded centre punch tool to break the window (most habitual thieves know this). Microwave is ok- but hard to keep tuned since the settings change with temp, humidity- and rain on the glass messes with them.

Leaving valuables in view of the windows is always a bad idea- alarm or not. Smash and grab theft is easy, common and not preventable except for NOT having anything to grab.
I'm not sure how you think it would have made the situation much different, as the alarm would go off and they'd still take off with your stuff.
