Do you sit higher in the driver's seat compared to passenger?

I've always notice while driving my 98 I feel like I'm sitting high, to the point where I wouldn't need a sunvisor and I'm 5'10". Today for the first time I drove as a passenger and the passengfer seat height felt normal. If it matters, both seats are power. The front of the bottom seat cushion can be adjusted up/down, but the rear portion can not. Is that correct? I've only notice 6-way power adjustment. Is there anyway to lower the height of the driver's seat?

weird - I had the EXACT OPPOSITE experience when I finally let someone else drive my Rover. I sat HIGHER in the passenger seat than in the drivers'. Maybe that's why everything seems so much more dramatic to the passengers. Sitting higher makes the movements greater and makes everything seem terrifying. This explains my mother's blood pressure jumping like a kangaroo at Joshua Tree! :p

The rear portion does move up and down as well.

It is more terrifying as a passenger, I think it is mostly because you have no control over what is going on. As a driver you know what you are making the truck do, or at least act like it....haha..! Having a steering wheel to hang onto helps a lot too.

I am 5'8" and NEVER needed the sun visor in my D1. I like a very upright and high seat though, so, that might play into it a bit--felt more cramped up in the passenger seat though, than the drivers. Then again, the Discos dont have diddly for room in any of the seats.

Sorry about the ugly drawing and out of focus phone camera.
It shows how the switch moves in those 8 directions.
Hope it is just an easy solve.

sounds like either you need a new seat, or a new switch. ...or maybe they only became 8-way at a certain point, and you've got a previous year...?
