:applause: I did the Parts Express lock switch and overall was ok. Lock works now and seems to be ok. The install was a PITA. The new lock is bigger and the connecting rod needs to be shortened which is the biggest part of the deal. Installing the lock it needed to be put in upside down if there is a top and bottom so that the rod can connect evenly. If I was to do it again I think I would re-drill mount holes. Wiring is ok, I used the color chart from another thread for the 5 wire and it was spot on. After hook up make sure wires get tied to the door so they do not hit the window.

Also don't forget to get extra door skin plastic clip things when you put the skin off.;)

All in all it sure is better than the $250 for the factory part even if I have to change it in a year or so if this does not work out.

Keep in mind that wire colors will probably not match if you use a different aftermarket actuator, but there is also some info in this link relating to the actual function of the wires feeding the stock actuator. For the '96 Disco there are 5 wires in the LF door (NAS driver's). 2 of the wire control the motor and the other 3 wires sense the actuator position through a mini-switch. I assume that like a lot of other parts, this information probably applies to all '96 and later D1's, but check yourself to be sure.

Pink: Actuator Motor
Orange: Actuator Motor

Brown/Pink Stripe: Mini-Switch
Yellow/Pink Stripe: Mini-Switch
Black: Mini Switch Common Ground

For the actuator motor (pink & orange), simply reversing the polarity of the voltage to these 2 wires will cause the motor to extend or retract the actuator plunger. If you are using an aftermarket actuator, make sure to test the polarity you need so that the new motor matches the existing doors, or you might and up having your new actuator unlocking the door while the other doors are locking, and vice-versa !

The mini-switch located inside the LF door actuator senses the position of the plunger. When the driver's door actuator is activated, the plunger moves in or out, which triggers the switch and thus locks or unlocks the other doors in the vehicle. The switch has 2 positions, NO (Normally Open), and NC (Normally Closed), and the Common Ground wire for the switch is Black.
