oh i saw it. i was invited out there to the games, but just couldn't do it.

As a competitor,Garrett? Do tell!
It was only like 3 or 4 years ago the freestyle motoxer's were doing the single backflip and now.... a double! I watched alot of the x-games whilst I was replacing axles, dropping the gas tank, fixing the body mounts, etc.

yeh right Jeff. as you know i have been working with Woodward Camp for the past year and the owner Gary Ream work together quite a bit. Woodward pretty much started the whole extreme based camp. Tony Hawk, Bam and all those guys were at one time working at Woodward before they were household names. the X Games were hosted there a few years back and the Mountain Dew Tour kicked off from there a few weeks back. which i also missed.
it's an impressive place. www.campwoodward.com

oh well the reason i was asked to go was because Gary asked.

BTW Dan is daughter is flat out beautiful. remind me to send you a pic.

the really cool part is he then jumped into a rally car and beat the worlds best rally driver to win his ninth gold medal in the x games...the guy is going to be huge in motorsports for a long time!!

That rally race was the stupidest, most contrived excuse for competion in a rally car I've ever seen.

The actual stages of the rally weren't bad, but the tarmac-into-dirt sorta thing at the end was pretty hokey. Bet hearing McCrea downshift and rev before even getting back on the ground was pretty cool. It's too bad they had everything in the stadium like that, they would have benifitted from a heads-up superspecial stage. It would also be nice if there were a way for spectators to watch a real mountain stage in person.

The big problem was how much stuff was going on in that little tiny feild, I was there and the jumps were packed way tight. However if anybody can launch Rally in the States it will be Pastrana, that guy has charisma and personality coming out his ass.

Oh Yeah, Woodward. I had a good friend go to the skate camp the very first year they opened! Must've been like '87 or '88.
Maybe we'll see you in next year's event!

I agree...but its nice to see that rally is getting a little props here in the USA.:patriot:

they had to make it MTVish so bringing it into the stadium like a supercross was all for the cameras.

i wish they would have showed more of the early stages

even before the stadium ridiculousness it sucked.

hungry valley is a terrible place for a ralley and the course was too rough and too sandy.

plus the cars weren't full race prep.
there was a huge disparity it was like a SCCA rally without classes.

And there was only one real WRC competitor out there.
and he's a jackass.

Rally America will be in upper Migh in oct running alot of the roads we drove last weekend up there, there are some really rough stretches but also so wide open stuff on the asphalt that will really let them air it out and fly!

I was up there a few years back for the annual fall rally and they drive some really sick speeds past trees that are 18" thick and just waiting to end someones day on a bad note. I would much rather run off course in the deserts of CA then run off course in the northwoods.:)
