Season opened to 96 degree weather Saturday at noon. Birds came in slowly until about 430pm when they really picked up. Limited out just before 530pm with 12. A good day but I would GA DNR move the open to first saturday in October. Whats the limit out there in CA, and did you bag it?

Yikes...90+ heat is tough...It was warm that day, but nothing near that. Plus, we didn't "chase" too many dove, flushed a few then waited for the evening flight and pass shot a few. No limits though. If you saw the area we hunt here in Southern Cal, you'd understand why.
Can't wait to go to Tuscon for some quail. Thanks for posting the pic's, Jack, sure was nice to get out there again.

Thanks Jim - The black Lab (Sooner) is actually mine...The choclate is Jack's.

No cell phones in the field :) It's actually the transmitter for the E-collar on the dog.

I don't really worry about ticks. Sooner gets his flea and tick medication each month and that helps a lot. He does still get them occasionally, but I go over him with a fine toothed comb after every hunt and pick them off.

hey Agro or is it luke

i ask the tick ? because here on long island we get totally covered in ticks this time of year.
we usually go birding upstate untill the first good frost that gets rid of most ticks.my lab and my buddies weimarana (?) both got tick fever (lymes disease) in the past.

for us islanders this is a good time for striped bass and geese at the same time as we have an early goose season in sept so we hang on the boat (25 searay) with poles and shotguns.
last year i doubled. a bass on the pole and a goose shot over head landed next to the boat.
both keepers.
