drive flange gasket substitute?

Yup yet another issue this week. While changing out the suspension, noticed a leak from a rear hub. Hub had a lot of play plus the breather was plugged solid. I'm going to tight the hub nuts but I don't have a new drive flange gasket. Can I use a smear of right stuff? Shop that did my brakes & bearings used a gasket plus some kind of sealant.

You need the axel seal. Hub seal really only keeps water and dirt out of the hub. Excess play in the hub has worn the axel seal. Easy to replace.

Oops-wrong seal! Sorry about that. In any case, still a good article for the hub seal and wheel bearings.

Must people remove their axle seals anyway. They are not needed. You get better bearing lubrication without them.

Use Right Stuff at the drive-flange.
