Drivers window only rolls down if I hit a bump

The driver's window will not roll down. I have discovered that if I hit a bump while holding the button down, it works. Once down, it has no problem rolling back up. My guess is something is loose... but what?

It's not a horrible problem as of now considering how readily available potholes are on the sorry roads here, but they have decided to resurface every street... so finding bumps on demand may become an issue.

I have read that bad soldering can cause window problems for the rear. Could bad soldering prevent the window from going down but not affect its ability to go up?

That is a feature not a fault, the previous owner paid good money for that upgrade and now you want to eliminate it? You need to figure out if it is the switch or the motor or the BCU etc.

I have already tested the switch... its good. Is BCU different from ECU?

Window rail is bad, probably a worn platic roller.

I replaced the roller a few months back, so it should be good, but will check it this afternoon.

windows are for panzees

Just take them out . . . So much simpler. . . ;)

This reminds me of my problem. My front windows won't work if the headlights are on, and the rear ones don't work at all, even after bypassing the window ecu. My next step is to buy some manual window regulators and just eliminate the power ones for good!
