I have been on medication for a while that gives me horrid dry mouth and I am just sick of it now. Is there anything other than drinking water that would help it?

Thanks

try popsicles, hard candies like life savers or jolly ranchers or lollipops, chewing gum or breath mints...try also drinking water or gatorade more frequently.

Ha, the popsicle I do when I am at home, I go through half a box a day. I go through 2 nalgenes of water a day, so I drink a lot of water. I might try those pills, but it is more pills to take :(. Nick DIE...kidding, I can't really stop them, it would be very bad, very bad.

Dry mouth is a common side affect of many different meds (allergy, etc.) not just benzodiazepines.

You do seem to be suffering from anxiety though... :)

Perhaps an IV with a saline drip would help

In all seriousness, thats the best way to hydrate. A friend of mine was a member of a rescue squad. They took him on a bar crawl for his 21st. When they finally stopped drinking, they hooked up an IV so he wouldn't have the hangover from hell.

I have no recommendation, other than 2 liters is really not all that much to drink in a day.

Tom I have been on this medication for about 6 years now. I drink that 2 liters of water, but I drink a lot of other stuff. It is a huge pain and it annoys me because it goes on and on. Nick I kid with the Die...haha, its a joke. Dave, now where would I get an IV? haha And Gleen Discoweb also helped me with my messed up counter... Anyone else have anything?

Go to your local pharmacy and ask them to order you a bottle of saliva sustitute, no prescription needed. The product is used in hospitals and nursing homes for dry mouth syndromes, also in Sorjens(sp) syndrome where the glands don't produce enuf saliva.
The product's main ingredient is sorbitol.

The saliva substitute is a great idea and should help. Be careful with popsicles, candy, gum, etc that contain sugar. Your natural saliva has an antibacterial property that keeps tooth decay in check. If you soak your teeth in sugar all day without saliva-look out. Make sure all candy, gum is sugar free. As mentioned, the hydration helps a little. Good luck, I know this is very anoying.

Adderall for about 5 years, Welbutron for about 2 years, and lexipro for a month or 2, raptiva for about a month, doryx for about 3 months. That is all I believe.
