DTC nightmares

disco 1. recent rebuild of everything. need to pass emissions testing. was receiving code "1316 misfire causing excessive emissions" as well as "random misfire". replaced plugs and upgraded to 8mm wires. code 1316 still looms large on the OBD screen. any suggestions/ personal anecdotes?

only getting 1316 now. someone help me. was told by D2 chris that I should swap ECUs with another disco. anyone have personal anecdotes?

This is kind of a desperate, "Hail Mary" sort of suggestion, but double-check the electrical connections to your crank position sensor for corrosion and solidity. Also check that your spark plug wires are all securely connected. I really can't think of anything else.
