that bike was a MH900E

it's an updated Mike Hailwood (of GP racing fame) replica.
in 2000, Ducati did a limited edition (2000) run of these bikes that went up for sale on the internet only. the sale started at the stroke of midnight (01-01-2000 @ 0000.01) and it was first come first serve. the bikes sold out in under an hour. it's known in the ducati circles as the milleium bike.
one of my buddies worked at the Duc. dealer at the time and we delivered 2 of these bikes to some rich guy up in Park City. they were the only two of these bikes that the dealership saw. very desireable, and ooohhhhh ssssoooo sseeeeexxxxyyyyyyy!

Having moved from CA in the past few years it still is frightening to see the people here in CO with no helmet, shorts and tevas riding donor bikes in typical donor fashion.
